Late Sridevi is considered one of the best actresses in Indian screens. Her untimely demise left the nation shocked. She had accomplished many personal feats in her lifetime and an iconic moment in her life was when she bought her first home, from her earnings as an actress. The house is a luxurious mansion in Chennai. Her daughter Janhvi Kapoor, also an actress, often spends time in this Chennai house and is convinced that the energy of her late mother still permeates the room’s solid walls. It’s one of the reasons the family has since maintained strict security over their vacation house, keeping its doors securely closed to both fans and the media as well as paparazzi. That was until Sridevi’s husband, producer Boney Kapoor decided to personally supervise the repairs, and after two years, he finally gave his daughters permission to bring friends.
Last year, Janhvi Kapoor showed off the house elaborately in a tour video for the popular magazine Vogue and it has been going viral once again. A verdant front yard teeming with different species of plants and trees, among which sits an ornate marble bench and table, greets viewers upon entering.
Adjacent to the lawn is a Lord Ganesha statue that Jahnvi Kapoor calls one of her favourite spots in the home. She goes on, “I remember the times I spent here with my mother so well. She wanted to make sure all the meals my father loved were ready and that the home was decorated with flowers, so she and I would depart for Chennai a day or two before he arrived. When my mother was home, you could always hear songs of AR Rahman playing inside the house".
Janhvi Kapoor made her entry in cinema in 2018. She recently acted in Bawaal, where she starred alongside Varun Dhawan. The film received mixed reviews. It courted controversy for portraying scenes of war and Nazi camp a certain way. Janhvi Kapoor’s acting in the film was appreciated by audiences and critics alike.
