'A Big Bat Swing...': Fans Elated as Rahul Dravid's Son Samit Makes Maharaja Trophy Debut
Samit Dravid scored 7 runs while playing for Mysore Warriors in the ongoing Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 2024.

India batting legend Rahul Dravid’s son Samit made his debut in the Maharaja Trophy T20 2024 recently and it has piqued the interest of cricket fans in the country.

Samit took the field during the Mysuru Warriors’ fixture against Namma Shivamogga on August 15.

Slotting in at number four while batting first, Samit didn’t enjoy a memorable outing as he added just seven runs to his team’s tally. He only hit a single boundary in the game.

However, the young middle-order batter left fans happy who were happy to have witnessed ‘junior Dravid’ in action.

After an interruption from rainfall, Samit’s side eventually bagged a victory via the VJD method.

Fans began comparing Samit with his father.

“Samit Dravid (Dravid’s son) first watch, not as stylish as his father…he has a big bat swing man. I’m so excited to see how he does in the rest of the KPL,” posted a user.

Another added, “Damn! Samit Dravid gets out for 7. That’s fine. He will do well. His body language was great. He was looking good.”

Speaking of the Maharaja Trophy match, Mysuru Warriors finished with 159 runs on the board while losing eight wickets.

Manoj Bhandage struck a stellar 16-ball 42.

Rain didn’t allow the full 20 overs of Namma Shivamogga’s chase though.

However, the Warriors had reduced their opponents to 80/5 in nine overs to win the match by seven runs.

As for Samit, the young all-rounder was roped in by the Mysuru Warriors during the player auction for the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 last month.

The middle-order batter who bowls right-arm pace was acquired for a fee of Rs 50,000.

Speaking about Samit’s arrival, a Warriors official told PTI, “It’s good to have him on our side as he has shown a lot of promise in various age-group tournaments for KSCA.”

Samit had previously represented the Karnataka Under-19 side and won this season’s Cooch Behar Trophy. He also featured during the KSCA XI’s fixture against Lancashire earlier this year.
