'A Special Interaction' Ahead of India's T20 World Cup Super 8 Clash Against Afghanistan | WATCH

After capping off the US leg of the T20 World Cup, the Indian cricket team are now all set to embark on the Super 8 phase of the competition. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared a video of the Rohit Sharma-led side’s journey from the US to Barbados. “We are in Barbados. Looking forward to go to the beach, have some really good sun and at the same point of time, beautiful, clear blue water. There are no better place to play such a wonderful tournament at the same point of time with wonderful people,” India all-rounder Hardik Pandya was heard saying in the video after reaching Barbados.

“A special interaction despite a washout in Florida. Next Stop: Barbados,” read the post shared by BCCI on X (formerly Twitter).

The video uploaded by BCCI also featured an interaction between India head coach Rahul Dravid and the Canadian cricket team. India’s T20 World Cup group-stage fixture against Canada washed out on Saturday, June 15. Dravid decided to visit the Canada dressing room. He was presented with an official jersey with signatures from all members of the Canadian team. The former India skipper even delivered a speech.

“Just thanks a lot. Firstly, just want to acknowledge and appreciate the fantastic contribution that you guys have made to this tournament. I think all of us recognise the struggles and the challenges that all of you have to do to be able to play this sport. It’s not easy,” Dravid said.

“I understand that having played actually as a cricketer in Scotland, way back, I think in 2003, so I know what the struggle is like for an associate country. So you guys, honestly are an inspiration to all of us. To show us that we love the game, truly, the kind of sacrifices, you guys are willing to make, to play this tournament. All I will say is that keep taking it forward. You guys are inspiring, not only other people but I’m sure you’re inspiring young boys and girls in your own countries,” he added.

A video of Rahul Dravid’s speech was shared by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Instagram. “Rahul Dravid brought some inspirational words to the Canadian dressing room,” read the post shared by ICC.

India will next be seen in action at the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. India’s next game is against Afghanistan on Thursday in Barbados.
