Team India’s T20I side embarks on a new journey without the big-name stars like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, both of whom have retired from T20 internationals after helping India claim their second T20 World Cup title.

One of the paparazzi who was photographing the former T20I skipper revealed his heartfelt emotions that he missed seeing the opening batter in the T20I side. But it was Rohit’s response that took the cake.

‘Bas ho gya yaar (It just happened my friend),’ said the Indian Test and ODI captain.

Rohit’s nonchalant response is not surprising to many. He is known to have a relaxed approach especially when leading the side. From keeping his bowlers calm by not overburdening them with tactics or strategies to a relaxed approach when batting as well, such is the mentality of the Indian skipper who helped the side win the second T20 World Cup title by beating South Africa in Barbados.

While he may be relaxed, his focus has always been on one thing, that is to win. That was on display in India’s recently concluded Test match against Bangladesh in Kanpur. With over two days of playing time being lost due to inclement weather and a wet outfield, the game looked like it was headed to a draw, but Rohit’s leadership came to the fray as he led the side to play an ultra-aggressive brand of cricket to force a result and take home the victory.

Now the skipper is enjoying his time off the field but he will be back in action for India’s upcoming three-match Test series against New Zealand at home starting on October 16 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

This would be followed by the highly anticipated tour to Australia where Rohit and co will look to defend the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 and also seal their hopes of a spot in the World Test Championship final where he can finally lay hands on the elusive title.
