'Don't Think Michael's Ever Lifted a Cup': Ravi Shastri Hits Back at Vaughan, Says Nobody in India Cares About His Remarks
Michael Vaughan had questioned the scheduling of the T20 World Cup, especially the India matches which were held in the day time.

Michael Vaughan was quite vocal in his criticism of the 2024 T20 World Cup as he pointed fingers at the International Cricket Council (ICC) for its scheduling of the matches to favour the Indian cricket team. The world cup was cos-hosted by USA and in the Caribbean islands, and India played all their matches in the morning so fans back home can watch them play during their prime time.

The schedule was set so that if India made it to the last-four, they were to play in the second semi-final no matter if they topped or finished second in their group in the Super 8 stage.

As it turned out, India did qualify for the semis where they faced England while in the first semi-final, South Africa took on Afghanistan.

Vaughan wasn’t happy with the fact that Afghanistan had just one day of rest before they played in their first ever world cup semi-final.

“So Afghanistan qualified for the WC semi, winning in St Vincent on Monday night .. 4 hr flight delay on Tues to Trinidad so no time to practice or get accustomed to a new venue .. utter lack of respect to players, I am afraid,” tweeted Vaughan. “Surely this semi should have been the Guyana one .. but because the whole event is geared towards India it’s so unfair on others ..” Vauhhan Vaughan had poste on X.

Former India allrounder and head coach Ravi Shastri has hit back at Vaughan and asked him to keep his advise for the English team as they suffered a one-sided defeat to India.

“Michael can say what he wants,” Shastri told Times Now. “Nobody in India cares. Let him sort out the England team first. He should give advice on what happened to the England team in the semifinal. India are used to lifting Cups. I know England have won twice, but India have won four times. I don’t think Michael’s lifted a Cup ever. So think twice. He is a colleague of mine, but that’s my answer to him.”

India defeated South Africa in a thrilling final to become the T20 world champions for the second time in their history.
