Mohammad Siraj Injured After a Nasty Fall; Leaves Field for Treatment
IND vs BAN 1st Test Day 2 LIVE: Siraj from deep square leg ran to his left and almost overran on the interception, tumbled and managed to stop the ball, and fell on the side of his hips.

In worrying signs for team India, pace bowler Mohammad Siraj took a nasty bump while fielding on Day 2 of the 1st Test between India and Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, and was forced to leave the field for further check-up.

It was the first over of Ravindra Jadeja – the 22nd over the Bangladesh innings when Shakib Al Hasan swept one down fine to the deep fine leg and called for two runs immediately.

Siraj from deep square leg ran to his left and almost overran on the interception, tumbled and managed to stop the ball, and fell on the side of his hips. The batters take two in the meantime. Siraj got up gingerly and through the over, he was in visible discomfort and at the end of the over left the field with the physio with Sarfaraz Khan coming in as the substitute for the pace bowler.

Indian bowlers on fire

Earlier in the day, India’s bowlers were on fire dismantling the Bangladesh top-order in no time. After India folded for 376 in their first innings with R Ashwin top-scoring with 113, Jasprit Bumrah got rid of Shadman Islam in the first over itself followed by a double-wicket over from Akash Deep removing Zakir Hasan and Mominul Haque. Bangladesh went into lunch reeling at 26/3, and in the second session, Siraj got into the act with the wicket of the skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto for 10, while Bumrah added his second in the form of Mushfiqur Rahim for 8.

Bangladesh were tottering at 40/5 before Shakib and Litton Das brought some semblance to the proceedings for Bangladesh keeping the Indian bowlers at bay.

Siraj Back on the Field

However, Siraj was back on the field soon after.
