New Zealand batted first in the previous game and produced a mammoth 226 runs. Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell were the standout batters for the home side. While the Kiwi skipper played a composed 57-run knock, Mitchell put up a blistering show and struck 61 off just 27 deliveries. Among others, Mark Chapman came up with a 26-run cameo, which comprised two boundaries and as many sixes.
Pakistan made a powerful start to the chase, with their first three batters adding 109 runs to the scoresheet. Former captain Babar Azam was the top scorer for the visitors. He registered a quickfire 57 off 35 balls. However, the upcoming batters failed to stay longer at the crease as Pakistan went on to lose all of their wickets at 180 runs.
