Schools In Odisha To Remain Closed From October 23 to 25 Due To Cyclonic Storm
From October 23 to 25, schools will remain closed in several districts because of a cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal, reads the official notice by the Additional Chief Secretary to the government.

The Odisha government has announced the closure of schools across several districts over the next three days due to a cyclonic storm. From October 23 to 25, schools will remain closed in Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Angul, Khurda, Nayagargh, and Cuttack districts because of a cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal, reads the official notice by the Additional Chief Secretary to the government.

Furthermore, the notice stated that the India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert over the area. The official notice also said, “As you are aware, IMD, Bhubaneswar has predicted that a well-marked low pressure area has been developed over east central Bay of Bengal at 1130 hours IST of today, the 21st October 2024 which is very likely to move west- northwestwards and intensify into a depression by 22nd October morning and into a cyclonic storm by 23rd October, 2024 over east central Bay of Bengal.”

Classes are expected to resume on Monday, October 28 since October 26 and 27 is a weekend.

Schools have been closed in several states due to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, The Bengaluru govt had ordered the closure of schools on Monday due to heavy rains in the city, reported PTI. The decision was taken after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert predicting heavy rainfall and thunderstorms for at least three hours in the city. The official statement read, “Due to continuous rain in Bengaluru Urban district, a holiday has been declared on October 21 for all Anganwadi centres, as well as private and aided primary and high schools, as a precautionary measure in the interest of students.”
