Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud has nominated Justice Sanjiv Khanna as his successor, according to top CJI office sources. CJI Chandrachud wrote to the Centre that Justice Khanna ought to succeed him as he is stepping down on November 11. CJI DY Chandrachud was initially appointed as a Supreme Court judge on May 13, 2016. Following the government’s consent, Justice Sanjiv Khanna will take over as India’s 51st Chief Justice.
