Bhutia's release from Mohun Bagan soon: East Bengal
His future has been uncertain after he asked for a release from Bagan.

New Delhi: If the words of East Bengal football secretary are to go by, the Red and Gold’s might land Bhaichung Bhutia from Mohun Bagan in the coming days.

The future of the Indian skipper has been in the air after he asked for a release from Mohun Bagan following the club issuing a show cause questioning the player’s commitment. Bhaichung, however, has a year left in his contract.

Speaking to Goal.com last night, Santosh Bhattacharya said, “I have heard from close sources that Bhaichung is likely to be released by Mohun Bagan tomorrow (Wednesday) or day after.

“As far as we are concerned, we are in regular touch with him. Whether we can sign him or not? That depends on the decision of Mohun Bagan officials as to when they decide to release him.”

Meanwhile, Renedy Singh who is contracted with East Bengal for another year has asked the club for a release after he got a big offer from a Goan club.

“Renedy has asked for release. If the coach (Subhash Bhowmick) thinks that it shall not hamper our team’s chances then we might release.

“Whenever a player has a contract and wants a release from the club, we have to think whether we can release him or not. It shouldn’t affect our team in anyway,” explained Bhattacharya.

On being questioned as to which Goan club had approached a contracted player of East Bengal, Bhattacharya said, “From Renedy, we have learnt its Dempo. But we are least interested about his offer from the other club.”
