Wenger takes swipe at Arsenal midfield
Gunners are six points adrift of EPL pace-setters Chelsea and Liverpool.

New Delhi: Arsene Wenger has laid the blame for Arsenal's slump squarely at the feet of his midfield, insisting they have lacked creativity in recent weeks.

Arsenal's weekend defeat against Stoke City, combined with previous losses to Hull City and Fulham, sees them up against the ropes already in the title fight.

The Gunners sit six points adrift of Premier League pace-setters Chelsea and Liverpool, and many are questioning whether Wenger's yougn squad come recover from their early-season stutters.

Most pundits have pointed the finger at the Londoners' defence, which leaked four goals against Tottenham Hotspur last Wednesday.

But Wenger has singled out his midfield for a pasting, insisting that they were not dominant or dangerous enough at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

"My biggest worry is that we did not create a lot," the Frenchman said in The Sun. "We’re not used to playing without creating chances and that is very frustrating.

"We could not express our strong side in the game, which is to create chances and get them out of position."

However, Wenger is confident his side will bounce back against the reigning champions next weekend.

He said: "We have a Champions League game on Wednesday with Fenerbahce and then Manchester United on Saturday lunchtime.

"There are no better games in which to come back, give confidence and show our quality."
