Veera Simha Reddy
Veera Simha Reddy is directed by Gopichand Malinei. The film featured Balakrishna Nandmuri and Shruti Hassan in the lead roles. The film turned out to be Balakrishna’s one of the highest-grossing films. It earned Rs 130 crore worldwide from which it solely collected Rs 97.64 crore in India.
Waltair Veeraya
Waltair Veerayya featuring two major Telugu stars Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja was a massive hit. The action film was the first South film to make it to the breakeven point. The film minted Rs 219 crore worldwide.
Varisu
Varisu featuring Thalapathy Vijay is a classic masala entertainer and is among the top-grossing films of the year. The film was directed by Vamshi Paidipally and also featured Rashmika Mandanna. The film in India grossed Rs 210.98 crore while the worldwide collection stands at Rs 300.98 crore.
Vaathi
Dhanush starrer Vaathi is a social drama film tackling issues with the education system. The film has the perfect amount of action and romance. The film earned Rs 77.29 crore at the domestic box office and Rs 25 crore taking the total collection to Rs 116.2 crore
Dasara
Dasara was Nani’s first pan-India film and the action thriller turned out to be a blockbuster. Set in a small village the film is based on casteism. The film minted Rs 118.5 crore worldwide at the box office.
Virupaksha
The horror thriller featuring Sai Dharam Tej is one of the hit films of the year. The film dealing with classic supernatural tropes managed to earn Rs 89.8 crore worldwide.
2018
The Malayalam survival drama film, 2018 won the hearts of audiences with its story of the Kerala floods of 2018. The film, directed and written by Jude Anthany Joseph, not only covered the survival stories but also threw light upon numerous social issues. The film grossed Rs 110.53 Crore in domestic collection and the worldwide collection was closed at Rs 180.03 crore.
Baby
Baby is directed by Sai Rajesh and stars Anand Deverakonda, Vaishnavi Chaitanya and Viraj Ashwin in the lead roles. The romantic film closed its collection at Rs 80.85 crore worldwide.
Jailer
Rajinikanth’s film was released worldwide on August 10 and has grossed over Rs 650 crore worldwide. The film collected more than Rs 343 crore nett in India in all languages. The film turned out to be the superstar’s second highest-grossing film after 2.0.
