KASARGOD: K Sreekanth, an advocate of the Hosdurg bar and district general secretary of the BJP, has sent a memorandum to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy urging to reconsider the winding up of the Justice M A Nizar Commission. The commission was appointed by the previous LDF government to probe the police firing occurred in Kasargod on November 15, 2009, which resulted in the death of an IUML activist.K Sreekanth told Express that he sent the memorandum as a social worker. “If the government fails to revive the Justice M A Nizar Commission, legal action will be initiated against the government,” he said.According to the memorandum, hundreds of IUML workers, with deadly weapons, unlawfully assembled in the town near the venue of the IUML meeting on November 15, 2009, with the intention of rioting and disturbing communal harmony.“When the public opinion turned against the IUML, the government decided to conduct a probe with retired district judge M A Nizar as commissioner.’’
