With the Olympics euphoria reaching fever pitch in the city, every one is busy cashing on the games. Businessmen and marketing gurus have planned several strategies to capitalise on the Olympics 2012 and effectively increase their sales. City Express takes a look at the events that have been taking place in the city keeping Olympics in the backdrop.
Embracing the spirit of Olympics is a shopping Mall in Malleswaram, which is gearing up for this sporting extravaganza by organising a variety of games, competitions and contests for customers till August 12. “It is the season of games and we hope to bring the spirit of Olympics to life in Bangalore. We will celebrate different themes and are sure that it will create much excitement among our patrons and customers,” said Neil Francis Antunis, Head, Mall Management.
Reflecting the atmosphere of the sport is a Kannada book store in Rajajinagar which in association with Karnataka Philatelic Association have organised Olymplex — 2012, an exhibition of Olympics and sports-related stamps which was inaugurated last week. They also conducted an exhibition of books to instill an interest in philately and sports in children and youth. In fact, a nutrition company also introduced and felicitated the Bangalore delegation participating in International Children’s Games (Children’s Olympics) 2012. Several stores, retail outlets and organisations have been conducting events throughout the city for the past few months. Similarly, another bookstore in Koramangala organised Champak Kids’ carnival wherein tiny tots made huge banners and wished their favourite sports stars luck in their own unique ways.
Shashi Sarma, a marketing strategist said, “Events like Olympics are a huge opportunity for vendors to boost their sales. Such events attract a lot of consumers as it builds a certain amount of curiosity amongst them. Once the crowd is pulled to the stores, the sales of products are guaranteed.”
