Federer, Roddick win; Paes moves to doubles 4th round
Federer made his way into the fourth round with a 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 win over Radek.

New York: Four-time defending champion at the US Open, Roger Federer made his way into the fourth round, with a 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 victory over 28th seed Radek Stepanek. Federer, trying to win his first grand slam of 2008, will play either Spaniard Fernando Verdasco or Igor Andreev of Russia for a place in the quarter-finals.

Eighth seeded Andy Roddick played Italian Andreas Seppi for a place in the fourth round. The American took the first set 6-2 and even though the 31st seed fought back in the second set, the 19 aces served by Roddick proved just too powerful for his opponent. Roddick won the match at 6-2 7-5 7-6.

Second seed Jelena Jankovic beat Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark to enter the quarterfinals of the US open. But it wasnt all smooth sailing for the Serbian. Jankovic lost the first set to her 18-year-old opponent but fought back in the second set to take it 6-2. In the decider, Wozniacki had no answers to Jankovic's experience and went down tamely. Jjankovic won the match 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.

And there was good news for India as the Leander Paes moved into round four of the men's doubles with his Czech partner Lukas Dlouhy. They beat the unseeded pair of Rik De Voest and Ashley Fisher 6-3, 6-3 in their round three encounter.
