Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday warned the BJP against threatening his government with the imposition of President’s rule in the state following the violence in the wake of Sabarimala issue. He said his government would not be cowed down by "threats and intimidation".
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey earlier in Lok Sabha demanded President's Rule in Kerala over recent incidents of violence after two women of menstrual age entered the Sabarimala shrine.
Dubey, while raising the issue of violence in Kerala, alleged that the ruling Communist Party of India (M) was practising the "politics of murder" and many BJP workers were its victims.
Responding to the allegation, the Kerala CM alleged that 91.71% people involved in violence during hartals in the past few days have been from organisations affiliated to the Sangh Parivar.
Vijayan added that the Kerala government will also bring in an ordinance to protect private property in cases of violence during hartals or protests. Once the ordinance comes into place, the people involved in destruction will be booked and compensation will be paid to those who suffered losses during the attack.
Earlier in the day, BJP MPs created an uproar during Zero Hour in Parliament alleging law and order problems in the state.
Dubey demanded a judicial commission of enquiry as a crude bomb was hurled at the residence of BJP Rajya Sabha MP V Muraleedharan.
While speaking to media persons, Pinarayi Vijayan said, "The RSS and the BJP are trying to destroy the law and order situation in Kerala. They have been trying their best to do that. In the last few days, we have seen that they have been deliberately unleashing violence. This includes attack on public representatives, media personnel and party offices."
"They are questioning the arrest of those involved in violence. Are they saying that the attackers should not be arrested? In some other states where the BJP is ruling, we know that the miscreants are not arrested but that will not happen in Kerala,” the Chief Minister added.
“In Sabarimala, devotees are coming for darshan, which shows there are no law and order issues," Vijayan said.
While asked about violent clashes in Thalassery, the CM said the incidents have been unfortunate but one should not forget the facts. “In Thalassery, the houses of CPI-M workers were attacked. The attacks were by Sangh Parivar. They also hurled bombs at an all women beedi factory."
The CM added that country made bombs were hurled at the house of CPI-M MLA Shamseer when he was in a peace meeting.
