A well-known social media influencer from Kerala died by suicide after allegedly being subjected to online trolling following her breakup with her boyfriend.
According to an NDTV report, the teenage victim, who was a 12th-grade student, attempted suicide at her home in Thiruvananthapuram last week post which she was admitted to the ICU in a critical condition. The girl passed away on Sunday while during treatment.
The deceased’s family members claim that she was being harassed on Instagram due to her breakup with her boyfriend, who is also an influencer. The constant trolling affected her mental health.
It was also reported that the girl was allegedly targeted by her ex-boyfriend’s followers after their separation.
According to her parents, they had advised her to concentrate on her studies upon learning about her relationship. They also mentioned that her mental health suffered after the breakup, which occurred two months prior.
A case of unnatural death has been registered by the Poojappura police and they have begun the investigation. The family of Adithya has filed a complaint to the police as she was attacked on social media platforms.
