Kerala Weather: Schools, Colleges Closed in These Districts After Heavy Rains and Landslides
The directive applies to a wide range of educational establishments including Anganwadis, nurseries, Kendriya Vidyalayas, CBSE and ICSE schools, professional colleges, and tuition centers.

Due to relentless heavy rains battering Kerala, educational institutions in several districts across the state have been instructed to remain closed. Authorities have announced holidays for all schools and colleges in Kasaragod, Kannur, and Kottayam districts. This decision follows earlier closures in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Thrissur, Palakkad, Ernakulam, and Idukki districts. The directive applies to a wide range of educational establishments including Anganwadis, nurseries, Kendriya Vidyalayas, CBSE and ICSE schools, professional colleges, and tuition centers.

However, the Public Service Commission (PSC) examinations will proceed as scheduled without any changes. The move comes in light of the hazardous weather conditions prevailing across Kerala, emphasizing safety concerns for students and staff alike.

According to the most recent radar imagery, moderate to heavy rainfall is forecasted at isolated locations, accompanied by strong winds reaching speeds up to 50 kmph. The affected districts expected to experience these weather conditions include Malappuram, Kasaragod, Kozhikode, Idukki, Ernakulam, Wayanad, Kannur, Palakkad, and Thrissur.

The ongoing heavy rainfall may lead to waterlogging on major roads, significantly reducing vehicle visibility and potentially causing traffic congestion. Special attention is advised for coastal areas in Kannur and Kasaragod, where heightened vigilance is necessary due to anticipated adverse weather conditions.

The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has issued warnings regarding potentially higher waves and rough seas, emphasizing the need for caution and preparedness in these coastal regions. Residents and travelers are urged to stay informed about local advisories and take necessary precautions to mitigate risks associated with inclement weather.
