Left members trooped into Well of Parliament seeking talk on price issue.

New Delhi: Under pressure from the Left and the Samajwadi Party, the government on Tuesday agreed for a debate in the Lok Sabha on the issue of price rise to be taken up in Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

"The government is ready for a debate on price rise and it will be taken up tomorrow immediately after the Question Hour," Parliamentary Affairs Minister P K Bansal told the Lok Sabha session on Tuesday.

The prices of essential commodities have been increasing, even though inflation has consistently been negative for some weeks in the immediate past.

"We share the concerns of the members and there will be a discussion tomorrow," Bansal had said.

Earlier on Tuesday, the House was adjourned briefly soon after it met for the day as Left members trooped into the well demanding taking up of the adjournment motion moved by them on the price rise issue immediately.

As soon as the House met, CPI(M) member Basudeb Acharia demanded that Speaker Meira Kumar take up the the adjournment motion moved by them on the issue of rise in prices of essential commodities.

He was supported by Samajwadi Party members.

The Speaker did not admit the adjournment motion and asked the members to give notice for discussion under Rule 193 after which the Left leaders trooped into the Well while SP members voiced their demands from their seats.
