Major train mishap averted

NALGONDA: A major mishap was averted due to the alertness of railway drivers when Chennai Express crashed into a truck near an unmanned level crossing at Irikigudem in Damercherla mandal late on Thursday night. Commuters of both the train and the truck escaped with minor injuries.According to information reaching here, the Chennai Express was moving from Hyderabad to Chennai when it hit the rear side of a truck which was crossing the railway tracks  around 9 p.m. The truck was coming from Dameracherla to Guntur when the incident occurred. Due to the collision, the engine of Chennai Express was damaged badly.  The train was halted for more than two hours till a spare engine was deputed from Nadikudi.
