CHENNAI: After boycotting April 13 assembly elections following failure of seat-sharing talks with AIADMK, MDMK is all set to contest the upcoming local body polls with party chief Vaiko inviting applications from ticket aspirants.Filled-in forms from party workers seeking tickets for various posts including Mayors should be submitted between September 10-18 along with the stipulated fees,Vaiko said in a release here.A long-time ally of AIADMK, the MDMK parted ways with the ruling party after the two failed to arrive at a seat-sharing agreement for the assembly elections which the AIADMK-led alliance comprising DMDK and Left parties won by a massive margin defeating the DMK.MDMK had blamed its senior partner's 'consistent ill-treatment and arrogant attiude,' for pulling out of the alliance.AIADMK government had announced holding local body polls in October when the term of the present civic bodies ends.
