THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In an attempt to serve the customers in the international money remittance market, the Postal Department has made a tie-up with Money Gram, international money transferring company. The service of Money Gram will be available at all head post offices in  the state from Monday onwards.  Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Chief Postmaster General Shobha Koshi said that Money Gram is functional in as many as 190 countries across the globe and hence, Keralites settled in these countries and also tourists can avail of its service to send money to the state. All the 51 head post offices in the state offer Money Gram service. Money to the tune of $ 2,500 can be remitted through this Money Gram at a time. A maximum of 12 remittances can be made in a year.   The postal network already provides a range of money remittance services in the domestic market through its traditional money order, electronic money order (eMO) and instant money order (iMO) services. It also provides the facility to remit funds abroad in 65 countries through its own product, the MO Videsh. Facility to send remittances from abroad to the state is already being provided through 628 post offices in the state through a tie-up with the Western Union.  Shobha Koshi said that the new collaboration with Money Gram is also keeping with the department’s trategy to make the post office a hub for e-services, including money remittance services.
