New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party has agreed to a legislation on the office of profit issue.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi met the leader of the Opposition LK Advani to evolve a consensus on the reconvening of Parliament.

After a meeting with Advani and leaders of Left parties separately, Dasmunsi said that "everyone wants an amendment to the parent law comprehensively so that it is not required to be amended frequently".

BJP leader Jaswant Singh and SS Ahluwalia were also present in the meeting at Advani's residence.

He said political parties are keen that a comprehensive amendment should be made to the law on office of profit but left it to the government as to when a Parliament session should be called.

He added that there were differences among the parties as to when a Parliament session should be called for the same.

The Minister had earlier in the day met CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury and CPI leader D Raja who told the Government that a Parliament session should be convened and a consensus be evolved on a legislation to amend the Member of Parliament (disqualification) Bill.
