Pune Porsche Crash: Teen's Father Claims He Did Not Commit Any Crime, Says 'I'm Being Falsely Implicated'

Vishal Agrawal, the father of the 17-year-old whose speeding Porsche knocked down and killed two motorbike riders in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar early Sunday morning, said that “he has not committed any offence and is being falsely implicated”.

Agrawal further stated that, in addition to being a successful businessman, he is also a social worker and a regular taxpayer, sources informed.

Agarwal, a well-known real estate developer, was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the accident involving his 17-year-old son. He is booked under two sections of the Juvenile Justice Act for “failing to carry out his duties as a guardian” and is also charged under the Motor Vehicles Act. A sessions court in Pune has sent him to police custody until May 24.

The incident involved a Porsche, allegedly driven by the minor, who police claim was drunk at the time. The car fatally knocked down two motorbike-borne software engineers in the early hours of Sunday.

The 17-year-old, who was behind the wheel of the speeding Porsche, was brought before the Juvenile Justice Board and was granted bail on the same day.

The decision to grant bail has sparked controversy due to the conditions imposed, which include volunteering with the traffic police and composing an essay on road accidents.

Pune Police Seek Extension Of Agrawal’s Custody

On Friday, Pune Police submitted an application before the magistrate to add additional sections to the FIR. These include Section 420 of the IPC, along with Sections 65(e) and 18 of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. These charges are to be added against the accused’s father, bar owners, and managers, News18 has learnt.

Sources said the police have requested an extension of Vishal Agrawal’s police custody for seven more days, citing the need for further investigation.

Additionally, the police added they need to investigate additional aspects, including details accessed from mobile phones and the bank account information of the accused, which need to be cross-verified with Agrawal.
