HYDERABAD: Justice Ramesh Ranganathan of the AP High court on Wednesday directed that the petitioner, who complained of custodial violence in Madakasira police station, be shifted to Osmania Hospital for treatment and sought a report from the hospital superintendent by Monday. The judge was dealing with a writ petition filed by one Chandrappa, who was produced in the court on Wednesday, complaining of custodial violence and that he was detained by the police of Madakasira police station in Anantapur district. The arrest followed a complaint by one K. Ramakrishna that his 15-year-old son went missing from August 24. It was later converted to kidnap and murder case. The petitioner was detained as a suspect as the complainant suspected the uncles of the victim could have committed the offence.The petitioner told the judge that police constable B Abu Nayak had burnt his feet during interrogation and that he was a victim of various third degree methods. The judge directed Chandrappa be shifted to Osmania Hospital. HC Adjourns Discoms Recruitment Case to Oct 31A division bench of the AP High Court comprising justice VVS Rao and justice KG Shanker on Wednesday adjourned to Oct 31 a batch of cases regarding the recruitment of junior linemen in the four Discoms in the state.The litigation dates back to 2006 soon after the notification was issued.Later the authorities made certain alterations and was challenged before the High Court. Even before the HC could declare the procedure as illegal, about 5,500 persons have already been recruited. In this backdrop the Discoms offered to consider the petitioners case, who were aggrieved by their non-selection in view of the changed policy. The court said concessions must be given to all. The Discoms again moved the court stating such concessions cannot be given.
