STC bus driver ends life over debt

CHENNAI: Plagued by ‘kanthuvatti’ woes, an STC bus driver ended his life at Iyyapanthangal on Wednesday. Sources said Krishnamurthy  sustained huge losses in his chit fund business and had debts of Rs 20 lakh. He wanted to sell his house at Villupuram, but could not find buyers. The debtors began to pressure him and resorted to threats. Krishnamurthy was found unconscious and was rushed to a private hospital in Porur where he was declared ‘brought dead’. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
