Three teenagers were arrested by Korukupet Police on Monday for allegedly bludgeoning a man to death. The victim was identified as Sridhar, a contract employee with the Chennai Port Trust.
On Sunday night, Sridhar, who was allegedly in an inebriated condition, picked up a quarrel with the trio, police said. The tiff turned ugly and the boys cornered Sridhar in a street, where they attacked him with clubs, killing him on the spot. They then fled the spot. The boys — one of them 15 and the others 16 and 17 years old respectively — were all residents of the same neighbourhood in Korukupet. They were arrested within the police station limits. An inquiry was on.
5 Arrested for Murder
Five persons were arrested by Thirumangalam Police on Monday for allegedly murdering a youth.
According to police, Victor alias Manivannan was attacked on Sunday night when he was consuming liquor with his friends near an abandoned railway stretch between Padi and Annna Nagar. Within 24 hours, police arrested Mani, Jegan, Shankar, Nallathambi, and Saravanan for the murder
Paramours Attempt Suicide
A man and his paramour allegedly attempted suicide here on Sunday.
According to police, Kumarasamy and Jayalakshmi, both colleagues, went missing a couple of days back. Jayalakshmi’s husband lodged a complaint with police, who picked up Kumarasamy and Jayalakshmi and took them to the police station. But, they suddenly fainted at the police station and were rushed to a hospital. A diagnosis showed that Jayalakshmi consumed sleeping pills while Kumarasamy drank some sanitising solution.
