Being treated at Victoria Hospital; suffers from lung disease

Environmentalist Salumarada Thimmakka was hospitalised on Sunday afternoon following complaints of wheezing and breathlessness. She is being treated at a special ward in Victoria Hospital. The 83-year-old green crusader planted hundreds of trees in her village Hulikal, Magadi taluk, along with her husband late Chikkanna.

“For the past 15 days, she had cough and fever. On August 3, she complained of tiredness, so I took her to a private hospital. As there was no improvement, I have brought here,” said her adopted son Vanasiri Umesh. Professor of Medicine at Victoria Hospital H K Govindaiah, who is treating Thimmakka, said, “She is stable now. Due to ageing, she is suffering from chronic obstructive lung disease. She is responding well to the treatment.”
