Amidst nature — with birds, green trees and fishes — this has been the best start for my birthday that I have ever celebrated till date, says Reha, who was one among the many  participants on the ‘nature walk’ held in Puttenahalli on Sunday. The nature walk was organised by Puttenahalli Neighbourhood Lake Improvement Trust as a part of Children’s Day celebrations. Children were  taken around Puttenahalli Lake early morning starting from 6 am. In a conversation with City Express, Rhea who turned eight on Sunday and a student of Brigade School, JP Nagar, in all her excitement said, "I am very happy and excited today. I woke up early in the morning and went along with my mother to participate in the walk. I saw many birds like swallows. I also saw fishes in the lake.”Chairperson of Puttenahalli Neighbourhood Lake Improvement Trust, Usha Rajagopalan, expressed her surprise at the turn out. “We had just passed on the message about a week ago, and it was so surprising to see nearly 50 children waking up early in the morning and coming here to be a part of the walk,” she said and added that for adults, “It was really a feel good factor to walk along with the kids and see them enjoying the sighting of birds, butterflies and trees. More importantly, they were asking so many questions.”Quiz the organisers as to why they specifically chose children in the age group of 6-10 years, Rajagopalan replied, “Children’s mind , especially at this age, are fresh and their thoughts and minds are open. They are ready to discover, think and learn new things.” Later, the children reproduced the sights of the morning on paper. They drew and painted everything from birds and trees to fishes that they saw during their walk.
