Abhijeet Bhattacharya Deems Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Chaand Taare’ As An Anthem: 'Its Not A Song'
Abhijeet Bhattacharya, the voice behind Shah Rukh Khan's 'Chand Taare,' emphasized that the track stands as an uplifting anthem.

In the ’90s, renowned singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya was closely tied to Shah Rukh Khan through his music. Their collaboration included iconic songs like ‘Tauba,’ ‘Woh Ladki Sabse Alag Hai,’ ‘Baadshah O Baadshah,’ and ‘Tumhe Jo Maine Dekha,’ among many others that accompanied SRK’s successful movies. However, the standout piece from their partnership is ‘Chaand Taare’ from ‘Yes Boss,’ a song that has remained one of Shah Rukh’s most beloved songs throughout his three-decade-long illustrious career in Bollywood. Abhijeet recently shared insights about recording this song and its enduring popularity, reflecting on Shah Rukh Khan’s journey to superstardom.

He told the entertainment portal PinkVilla, “It’s not a song. Jaise aap ek anthem ko gaana nahin bol sakte, jaise Shankar Mahadevan ka ek gaana hai Sabse Aage Honge Hindustani, it’s not a song, it’s an anthem, wo gaana ban gaya hai (You can’t call an anthem a song. Shankar Mahadevan’s track Sabse Aange Honge Hindustani is not a song, but an anthem. It has now become the song).”

Describing devotional classics like ‘Om Jai Jagdish Hare’ and ‘Mangal Bhawan Amangal Haari,’ Abhijeet Bhattacharya pointed out how these songs initially started as simple compositions before evolving into revered ‘aarti’ songs. Drawing a parallel, he highlighted the profound impact of ‘Chaand Taare’ on people over time. Abhijeet views ‘Chaand Taare’ as an anthem for individuals with big aspirations, as it continues to serve as a wellspring of inspiration and motivation. He eloquently expressed, “Waise hi Chaand Taare, har industrialist, her politician, her celebrity, jisko ek restaurant main bhi ek success chahiye..unke liye anthem hai ye (Similarly, Chaand Taare is like an anthem for every industrialist, every politician, every celebrity and even the restaurant owners aspiring for success in their lives).”

However, the singer also expressed his dissatisfaction over not being credited for the songs. This has led to a rift between the two, with Abhijeet revealing his ongoing disappointment in the same interview.

He mentioned that despite their birthdays being just a day apart and having similar temperaments, there seems to be a strained relationship between him and Shah Rukh Khan, “This is something Shah Rukh Khan knows very well. There’s no difference between us; our birthdays are just one day apart. We have the same nature,” the singer shared.

He also elaborated, “We both know what we’re going to be. If I go to him today, I can tell him, as his senior by 6-7 years, Enough of the drama, you are a star and always will be. But if I come back into the picture, then it will be me, not him. Sometimes it feels like he is the type of person who shows off… or maybe he just doesn’t have any time. But he isn’t like that. I know myself very well, and I know him very well too, even though we don’t have a close bond. He knows that I have been hurt. (kabhi aisa lagta hai ki wo bhi aisa aadmi hai ki itraata hai.. Ya toh uske pass bilkul waqt nahi hai.. Lekin wo aisa nahi hai, mai apne aap ko janta hu toh usko bhi bhot acche se janta hu, jabki mera koi close bond nahi, lekin usko itna pata hai ki muje chot phochi hai..)”
