Alia Bhatt Changes Her Name After Marrying Ranbir Kapoor, Here's What Her New Name Is; Watch Video

It has been over two years since Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor got married. However, it is possibly the first time that Alia revealed she’s changed her name after her wedding. In the first trailer of The Great Indian Kapil Show season 2, Alia revealed that she has added a Kapoor to her name.

The promo released on Saturday revealed Alia will be seen in one of the opening episodes with the team of Jigra. Alia will be seen sharing the screen with Vedang Raina and Karan Johar in the episode. The trailer hinted that Alia will meet Gutthi, Sunil Grover’s character who was shown to have a romantic arc with Ranbir in Kapil’s show.

In the trailer, Alia announced that she is now ‘Alia Bhatt Kapoor’. Watch the promo below:

Alia married Ranbir in April 2022. The couple welcomed their daughter later that year. They named her Raha and they’ve been spotted together several times.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Alia will be seen leading Jigra. The film brings Alia and Vedang together for the first time. They are playing siblings. Alia is not only acting in the film but she is also co-producing the film. There are rumours that the film is a remake on Gumrah.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Jigra is an adaptation of the 1993 film Gumrah. It starred Sanjay Dutt, Sridevi and Rahul Roy and was the story of a man who went to insane lengths to save his lover, who was imprisoned in a foreign country. Jigra makers decided to remake Gumrah but with certain modifications. Two of the biggest changes they have made from the story of the original is that here it’s the girl who’s saving the boy. Also, instead of them being lovers, they are siblings."

However, the production house clarified that the film is not an adaptation.

Jigra, produced by Viacom18 Studios, Dharma Productions, and Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt, is directed by Vasan Bala and will be released on October 11. Next up, Alia Bhatt will star in first female-led YRF Spy Universe film, Alpha with Sharvari and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love And War, starring alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
