Filmmaker Sriram Raghavan is known for his dark, gritty thrillers like 'Ek Haseena Thi' and 'Johny Gaddar'. The director's latest offering 'Badlapur' has boy-next-door Varun Dhawan playing a mature, dark character who is out to seek revenge for the brutal murder of his wife and son.
From the first look of the film which was released few months back to the latest trailers that are doing the rounds right now, 'Badlapur' has generated a lot of curiosity even though it is a regular revenge drama. The film's stellar star cast includes Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing the antagonist and three leading ladies- Yami Gautam, Huma Quereshi, and Radhika Apte.
The film will also prove to be a crucial one for both Raghavan as well as Dhawan's career. As Dhawan moves out of his comfort zone, it will be interesting to see if he can pull off the difficult role with ease. Ragahavan's last outing at the Box Office was 'Agent Vinod' which did not do well at the Box Office. The success of 'Badlapur' can catapult the filmmaker into the big league.
