Sooraj Cherukat, known professionally as Hanumankind (or HMK), has had a journey as diverse as his music. Born in Kerala, India, Cherukat’s early life was marked by constant relocations, with his family moving from country to country before finally settling in Houston, Texas. This global upbringing exposed him to a wide range of cultural influences and musical styles, shaping his unique artistic voice.

Cherukat’s parents adhered to a traditional blueprint for success: diligent study, college education, a well-paying job, and a stable family life. Despite these expectations, Cherukat nurtured a growing passion for music, even though it wasn’t initially part of his five-year plan or any plan at all.

Meanwhile, the music video has quickly become a sensation, amassing over 11 million views on YouTube and making the internet sit up and take notice of Hanumankind’s dynamic presence and innovative artistry. With ‘Big Dawgs,’ Hanumankind has solidified his status as a major force in the global hip-hop scene.

Hanumankind’s breakthrough came with his debut EP, ‘Kalari,’ released in 2019. The project showcased his versatility and ability to weave complex narratives with socially conscious themes, quickly garnering attention from both fans and critics. Tracks like ‘Karuna’ and ‘Wake Up’ highlighted his knack for addressing contemporary issues through a uniquely Indian lens, establishing him as a significant voice in the Indian hip-hop scene.
