Jibraan Khan is winning hearts as Sahir in the latest film, Ishq Vishk Rebound. This marks his first Bollywood film, following his debut as a child actor in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, where he played the son of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. But many may not know that before Ishq Vishk Rebound, Jibraan auditioned for a lead role in one of Karan Johar’s popular film franchises. Any guesses?
Addressing why he took so long to make his adult acting debut, Jibraan revealed he had auditioned for the role of Tiger Shroff’s character in Student Of The Year 2 but wasn’t selected. In a conversation with the Free Press Journal, Jibraan Khan stated that the question of his debut as an adult had been around for the past 5-6 years. He shared that the journey had not been easy, emphasising that he waited to select the right project to start his career. He added that he didn’t passively hope for opportunities to come his way. Instead, he aggressively pursued work by contacting directors and producers, never hesitating to request auditions.
Highlighting his journey so far, Jibraan said, “I did audition for Student of The Year 2 but it didn’t work out as I looked younger than Tiger Shroff.” The actor believes that the role of Sahir in Ishq Vishk Rebound was destined to be his.
Moreover, the delay in making his debut helped the actor prepare himself. Jibraan Khan added, “I had to be prepared as a mainstream actor also, be it my physicality or my acting skills.”
When asked if box office collection was a concern for him, Jibraan Khan said he has taken a “more practical” approach. He stated that if the films of most big stars fail commercially, then the decline is seen everywhere. However, every actor aspires for their film to perform well. According to the latest numbers, Ishq Vishk Rebound has earned over Rs 5 crore globally.
Apart from Jibraan Khan, Ishq Vishk Rebound also stars Rohit Saraf, Pashmina Roshan, and Naila Grewal. The film is directed by Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari and is produced by Ramesh Taurani under the banner Tips Films Limited.
