Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah fame Gurucharan Singh recently grabbed headlines when he suddenly disappeared. Well, he returned after almost a month and revealed that he had gone on a spiritual journey. Amid this, police grilled his friend Bhakti Soni to know about his whereabouts. Talking about the same with Times Now, she said that she was scared.

Times Now quoted her saying, “Police questioned me a lot since I was the one he spoke to last. I am happy that he is back but please don’t leave again without telling us. Bata kar jana. Someone from the Special Task Force came to me and he was very strict. Unke sawal aise the jisme main galat saabit ho rahi thi but I spoke my truth. I asked them to check my location. They grilled me over the fact that I had left him numerous calls. I even went to Mumbai police to file a missing complaint but they asked me to speak to the Delhi police. Then I dialed JD Majethia sir to tell him about Gurucharan going missing. He then told CINTAA and the media about him. A lot of channel even wrote wrong things about me.”

In our interview, Bhakti Soni also said, “I was scared ki kahi iss bar bhi nahin aye to. But he informed me that he is coming and has seated himself in the flight. So I was relieved.”

Talking to the Bombay Times, the actor said, “I have always been spiritual because of my parents and at this point in life when I was feeling low, I turned towards God. I went on a spiritual journey and had no plans of coming back. But God gave me a sign and that made me return home.”

Gurucharan Singh went missing on April 22 this year but returned home in New Delhi after 26 days. Singh was interrogated by Delhi Police officials following which it was discovered that he had left home to be on a religious journey. Police officials had said that Gurucharan visited Gurudwaras in Amritsar and Ludhiana ever since he was reported “missing” but he later realised that he should return home.

Gurcharan Singh played the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi — a fun-loving man who is always in party mode and never shies away from expressing love for his wife. He was one of the popular characters on the show, and also a founding cast member. Gurcharan, however, left the show in 2013 only to return next year due to public demand. After his exit in 2020, he was replaced by actor Balwinder Singh Suri.
