Hansal Mehta Reviews Salim Khan-Javed Akhtar’s Angry Young Men: ‘Really Good Collection Of Clips’
Angry Young Men is a three-part docuseries that captures the personal and professional journey of Salim-Javed

Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar’s docu series Angry Young Men has been getting an overwhelming response from the audience. Even celebrities have praised the series a lot. Recently, Hansal Mehta also joined the club and reviewed it. He called it a good collection of clips.

Taking to his X handle, the director wrote, “I enjoyed Angry Young Men for what it is. Nostalgic and intimate almost like an expensive family video for public consumption. Didn’t offer much beyond what we know but to hear the two thespians introspecting on their work and lives is a treasure. Really good collection of clips and a well edited show. Honestly, I don’t get people who criticise work for what they want it to be than for what it is…”

Take a look here:

Produced by Salman Khan Films, Excel Media & Entertainment, and Tiger Baby, *Angry Young Men* is a three-part docuseries that captures the personal and professional journey of Salim-Javed. Executive produced by Salma Khan, Salman Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, and Reema Kagti, the series is now streaming exclusively on Prime Video, available to viewers in India and over 240 countries and territories worldwide.

The News18 Showsha review of the docuseries reads, “What sets ‘Angry Young Men’ apart is its balanced portrayal. While it celebrates Salim-Javed’s meteoric rise, it doesn’t shy away from discussing their flaws. Rao’s direction gives the series an outsider’s lens, which allows for a more objective narrative, particularly in segments featuring Honey Irani. Her candidness is refreshing, as she speaks about the duo’s arrogance during their peak and Javed Akhtar’s personal flaws. Her anecdotes, especially the one about how Javed proposed to her over a game of Rummy, bring a bittersweet edge to the narrative.”

“‘Angry Young Men’ is a compelling watch for anyone interested in the history of Hindi cinema. It’s not just a documentary about two screenwriters; it’s about the making of modern Bollywood. Namrata Rao’s direction ensures that the series is more than a glossy tribute. It’s an honest, sometimes raw, exploration of the personal and professional lives of two men who changed the face of Indian cinema forever. If you’re a fan of Salim-Javed or simply curious about the golden age of Bollywood, this documentary is a must-watch,” the review concluded.
