The fourth edition, directed by Wes Ball, provides a glimpse into a world where the line between humanity and apehood blurs and promises to transport viewers back to a desolate planet in which apes have risen to power.

The much awaited trailer for the fourth installment of the reboot series based on the phenomenally successful blockbuster Planet of the Apes is out. 20th Century Studios is back with the upcoming chapter, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which is set to be released on May 10, 2024. This comes years after the third installment, War for the Planet of the Apes, which was released in 2017. The fourth edition, directed by Wes Ball, provides a glimpse into a world where the line between humanity and apehood blurs and promises to transport viewers back to a desolate planet in which apes have risen to power.

The trailer suggests that the plot picks up after the events of the last film. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is a brand-new action-adventure spectacle for viewers. The film is set several generations after Caesar’s rule, in which apes are the dominant species and humans have been reduced to a life marred with struggles. As a new despotic ape leader expands his dominion, one young ape embarks on a perilous journey that will compel him to rethink everything he knows about the past and make decisions that will shape the future for both apes and humans. The film promises to be a gripping tale of survival, unity, and the never-ending struggle for dominance. The clip depicts scenes in which several humans are hunted down by apes on horseback and how they hide to avoid the onslaught.

The trailer was posted online by 20th Century Studios with the caption, “No one can stop the reign.” Matt Reeves’ 2017 film War for the Planet of the Apes concluded with the death of Caesar, the visionary ape king. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set many years later and chronicles the journey of the former ape leader’s son, Cornelius.

Meanwhile, the first six installments of the film, based on Pierre Boulle’s 1963 novel Planet of the Apes, were released from 1968 to 2001. The reboot series began in 2011 with Rise of the Planet of the Apes, followed by Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in 2014 and War for the Planet of the Apes in 2017. The fourth film in the series will star Owen Teague, Freya Allan, Kevin Durand, Peter Macon, and William H. Macy. The film was initially supposed to premiere on May 24 but the makers have now decided on a May 10 release.
