Mrunal Thakur’s journey from TV to the silver screen is a testament to her talent, determination, and her next-door-girl charm. Her impactful performances in films like ‘Sita Ramam,’ ‘Super 30,’ ‘Hi Nanna,’ ‘Jersey,’ and many more have solidified her place in the hearts of audiences and showcased her versatility as an actor. The actress has surely come a long way in showbiz and has battled against all odds, to create a name for herself. In her recent appearance on The Longest Interview podcast on Audible, the actress revealed that she had once fought with producers for a role.
Speaking of her upcoming film Pooja Meri Jaan, she shared, “There is one film, ‘Pooja Meri Jaan’ that I have done, it is yet to be released. But that film is something that I wanted to do, this is who I am, and this is what had happened to me. So, I fought with the producers because I found out someone else was supposed to play this character.”
She further added, “When I found out this film was being made, I fought for that role – I gave multiple auditions and screen tests. I had to literally beg for it. We shot it 2 years ago, and it should hopefully be released this year. I remember it was the last day of shooting for ‘Sita Ramam’ and I had to take a flight the next morning for a screen test.”
Meanwhile on the work front, “Mrunal Thakur who recently delivered a power cameo in Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD, penned a gratitude note for her role and also raved about the performances delivered by Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Prabhas and Kamal Haasan.”

For the unversed, Kalki 2898 AD became the talk of the town since its relaese. The film heavily draws inspiration from Mahabharat. The film is set in a dystopian future and revolves around four people — a pregnant woman named Sumathi (Deepika Padukone), who is said to be carrying a child that is the 10th avatar of Vishnu; the immortal Ashwatthama (played by Amitabh Bachchan) who has been tasked to protect the unborn child; a ruthless villain named Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan), who wants the child dead for he knows the child will be the end of the baddie; and Bhairava (Prabhas), a bounty hunter who would sell anyone in return of money.
