Prem Chopra opened up about his bond with Rishi Kapoor, Jeetendra and his connection with the Kapoor family.

Prem Chopra has solidified his position in the entertainment industry with over six-decade long acting career. Over the years, the veteran actor has shared screens with several iconic actors, which also include three generations of the esteemed Kapoor family. The actor recently expressed his respect for Raj Kapoor, discussed the bond he had with Raj’s son, Rishi Kapoor, and shared his experiences working alongside Raj’s grandson, Ranbir Kapoor.

During the ANI podcast, Prem Chopra recalled, “There have been people who were super producers, super directors. They’re responsible for introducing many talented people in the industry. But when they made a film for their own children, but they couldn’t deliver the goods. Like Raj Kapoor. Rishi Kapoor was the most sought-after actor, because he was a damn good actor. Unlike us, he was given a break on a platter. But one has to prove himself.”

The actor also shared a secret about Rishi Kapoor and Jeetendra, owing to his close bond to them. Answering a question regarding the topic of discussion among the three, Prem Chopra promptly replied, “Girls”. Not only that, Prem Chopra also quipped whether there was an overlap among girls they dated, “They’re grandmothers now… We would play pranks on each other, it was very funny,” he stated whole adding that their wives also started hanging out with them on such soireés.

Despite being related to the Kapoors, Prem Chopra clarified that at the end of the day, especially in the entertainment industry, ‘nobody is your relation’. He stated, “Here, nobody is your relative, nobody can do favours for you. You have to prove yourself.”

Born on September 23, 1935, in Lahore, British India (now in Pakistan), Chopra has had a prolific career spanning over six decades. He is particularly renowned for his performances in villainous roles, having appeared in more than 380 films. His ability to portray negative characters with charm and sophistication has made him one of the most memorable villains in Bollywood history.

Some of his most notable films include “Bobby” (1973), “Do Raaste” (1969), and “Kati Patang” (1970). Despite often portraying antagonists, Prem Chopra’s real-life persona is said to be quite the opposite, marked by his affability and professionalism. Over the years, he has received several awards and accolades for his contributions to Indian cinema, securing his legacy as one of Bollywood’s legendary actors.
