He is Vijay Babu, who played the role of a younger brother in the hit film. The actor was born in 1951 in Andhra Pradesh. He made his acting debut in the industry with the film Oru Veedu Oru Ulagam, released in the year 1978. After this film, he also acted in several others, like Oru Vidukadhai Oru Thodarkadhai, Oru Koyil Iru Dheebangal, Meenakshi, Muyalakku Moonu Kaal, Agni Theertham and Kalamellam Un Madiyil, among others.

After his 2003 film Priyamaana Thozhi, he took a break for a few years and then reappeared in the film Uthamaputhiran, starring Dhanush. He last acted in Chakra, released in 2021. Beyond his acting career, he is also a businessman. The actor is now 72 years old but has the same energy. He recently moved to his newly-built beach house on East Beach Road, Chennai.

Not only Vijay Babu, but his son Ramana is also acting in the film industry. He has appeared in Tamil and Telugu films in leading and supporting roles. The actor made his debut in the film Style, released in the year 2002. His first Telugu film was Utsaham in 2003. He is now known for his various roles in films like Meaghamann, Thunichal, Nayagan, Gopalapuranam, Ezhuthiyatharadi and others.

Padikkadavan was produced by Kannada actor Ravichandran and his father N. Veeraswamy under the banner of Sri Eswari Productions. The plot of the film follows the story of a man who strives hard to make his younger brother study. The cinematography was done by V. Ranga, while the editing was done by R. Vittal and S. B. Mohan. The music for the film was composed by Ilaiyaraaja.
