Richa Chadha Opens Up on Interfaith Marriage With Ali Fazal: 'If You Stand Firm on Your Choice...'
In February this year, Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal announced that they’re expecting their first baby together.

Actors Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal are all set to welcome their first baby together. The couple, who fell in love on the sets of Fukrey, tied the knot in 2020 during the pandemic but celebrated their union with their families and close friends in 2022. Richa and Ali come from different faiths but believe in love “without filters”.

In a recent interview, when Richa was asked whether they were subjected to scrutiny when they first decided to get married, Richa told Galatta India, “If you stand firm with your choice and your immediate family is with you and supportive of you, nobody else really matters. And like I said, a human being is a human being first and when you go and fall in love, your search has no filters on. When you fall in love, that’s what it is.”

In the same conversation, Richa recalled that she did not want her family to find out about her relationship with Ali through the press. “You know, we also have families. When I was ready to discuss this at home with my family, then I thought I will just come out,” she said.

Richa said that she and Ali decided to go in public about their relationship when she wanted to travel with him for the premiere of Victoria and Abdul at the Venice Film Festival. “I remember I had to travel to be his plus one for the Venice Film Festival for (Victoria & Abdul) with Judi Dench. I was like… I am not missing your Judi Dench red carpet for the world. He was like but no one knows, so I said let’s just tell them now, it’s time,” she shared.

In February this year, Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal announced the actress’ pregnancy. Her latest release Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar will always remain a special project for the actress as it was during its shoot that she tied the knot with Ali. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, she recalled, “I began shooting for Heeramandi literally 10-15 days before my wedding. And at that time, there was no thought of motherhood in the immediate future on my mind.”

She continued, “I don’t know what kind of upbringing I would want to give my child. It’s like I’m planning to write a novel and somebody already asking me what kind of a story I would want to write. You can’t say these things. This is all very new for me.”
