Weeks before the highly-awaited MCU film hits theatres, Deadpool & Wolverine has received a final major update. Ryan Reynolds, who plays the lead role of Deadpool, took to social media and confirmed that the film’s post-production work has been completed. With its announcement in 2019, the return of Hugh Jackman as James ‘Logan’ Howlett’s Wolverine in 2022, and the official trailers uncovering a chaotic ride, Deadpool & Wolverine has truly come a long way. Fans have been equally excited and thrilled to watch the extraordinary bonding between the merc-with-a-mouth and his clawed best friend.
On Wednesday, Reynolds took to his Instagram Stories and shared a BTS picture with director Shawn Levy. He wrote, “And that’s all she wrote for post-production. Feels like a million years of work went by in a blink. Sitting next to this guy made it all so sweet…Hard to walk away."
While the picture suggests a hint of a goodbye, fans can only hope that this isn’t the final time Reynolds suits up as the wisecracking mercenary.
Notably, the film comes at a time when Marvel Studios has been struggling to create an impact. Its latest releases, like She-Hulk and Thor: Love and Thunder, failed to work their charm, even facing backlash for poor VFX and uninteresting storylines. However, the response to Deadpool & Wolverine has been positive from the start, especially the trailers that have kept audiences hooked.
One of the biggest bonus points of the film is Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine, after almost bidding adieu to his beloved character in the 2017 film Logan. Besides treating fans to a rollercoaster multiversal ride, it is also expected to reclaim the box office crown this year.
