Sanjay Kapoor Says Daughter Shanaya Kapoor 'Works Very Hard': 'During Covid, She Was Training...'
Sanjay Kapoor recently talked about how his own tough journey has made him more careful about his daughter Shanaya Kapoor's acting aspirations.

Sanjay Kapoor, despite being part of a longstanding film family, has faced challenges in his over three-decade-long career. Recently, he found renewed success with the popularity of OTT platforms. His films like Raja (30th anniversary) and Prem (29th anniversary) mark significant milestones. Sanjay has also starred in recent movies such as Bloody Daddy, Merry Christmas, Murder Mubarak, and House Of Lies, where he played a cop for the first time. He expressed excitement about this role, mentioning his love for mysteries and how Murder Mubarak followed soon after.

Talking about his current phase and the variety of roles he’s taking on, Sanjay Kapoor feels fortunate. He said, “I am very fortunate that directors are offering me diverse roles, this is what experience does. They are ready to give me a chance; you can be choosy, but you can only choose from what you are offered. I have been fortunate, I am ready to experiment. I am not going by that if people liked me in a certain role, I will just do those roles. Directors have been so nice to me, be it Bloody Daddy, Murder Mubarak, or even House Of Lies. I was scared to play the roles in Murder Mubarak and Bloody Daddy because the characters could get caricaturish, but they were handled so well that they left a lasting impression.”

Sanjay also observed that nowadays, there’s a lot of work and a lot of talented actors. He said, “There is a lot of work happening, but if there were 100 actors 20 years back, today there are 1000 actors. Everybody wants to cast fresh faces, and in OTT you can take that chance to cast good talent. You don’t depend on a star or a face, today everyone wants a fresh face. So if there is lots of work, the availability of talent is also multiplied by 100. You have to be on your toes because every day someone new is coming and he is more talented.”

Sanjay Kapoor also talked about how his own tough journey has made him more careful about his daughter Shanaya Kapoor’s acting aspirations. He said, “Shanaya has seen my journey very closely, and she is very intelligent, she has seen how I fought it out and understood that one has to keep the focus on work and not lose hope. Just keep trying, and what is yours will be yours. She is working very hard. Even during Covid, she was training and I didn’t have to tell her that. I am always there for her, but to just see if her vision and direction are right.”
