Last month, the creators of Thandel revealed the first look at the film. The video, titled Essence of Thandel, provides a glimpse into the film’s story in addition to establishing the characters. Naga Chaitanya’s character, Thandel Raju, is introduced in the opening scene, fishing in the middle of the ocean. It also shows how he gets into problems when he and a few other fishermen unintentionally enter Pakistan’s area. Following their arrest by the Pakistani Coastal Guard, they were imprisoned at Karachi’s major jail. The preview also introduces Sai as his partner, Bujji Thalli, and suggests that the film would be nationalistic. Since its release on January 6, the video has garnered over 7.7 million views.

Speaking about the film and his role, Naga Chaitanya said, “It’s an interesting story. It is based on true events that occurred in Andhra Pradesh in 2018. It’s a love story but inspired by real life events that happened to some Srikakulam fishermen. It’s an inspiring story, which also questions the politics of the time. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime role."

Earlier this month, the team wrapped up the shoot and the makers shared some exclusive behind-the-scenes pictures from the set. The photos show the complete cast and crew immersed in the production.

Thandel, directed by Chandoo Mondeti, stars Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi in the leading roles. Bunny Vasu produced the film under the name of Geetha Arts. Devi Sri Prasad wrote the music, guaranteeing an amazing cinematic experience for those eagerly awaiting its release.
