Emraan Hashmi’s film Jannat 2 recently completed 12 years. It was the sequel to the 2008 film, Jannat, which made huge profits at the box office and viewers loved the chemistry of the actor with Sonal Chauhan. After the success of the first part, makers decided to come up with a second instalment, which once again minted a lot of money. Jannat 2 was released on May 4, 2012. Kunal Deshmukh directed Jannat 2 which recently completed its 12th anniversary. Its sound album was a huge hit among the audience who continue to hum the songs even today. The music composition of Jannat 2 was done by ace musician, Pritam, while Sayeed Qadri and Sanjay Masoomm penned the tracks.
Jannat 2 starred Emraan Hashmi opposite Esha Gupta. It also featured actors like Randeep Hooda, Manish Chaudhary and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in the supporting roles. It is the story of a street-smart, small-time arms dealer in Delhi, Sonu, who falls in love with Dr Jhanvi Singh Tomar. He decides to leave the world of crime and live a peaceful life with her. But, life takes a huge turn when he decides to become a police informer and at the same time, manages to win the trust of a gang leader. What happens after he double-crosses them both, forms the plot of the story.
Recently, Esha Gupta shared a reel on her story, marking the 12 years of Jannat 2. The reel showed a glimpse of the actress and Emraan Hashmi from the film while the song Tera Deedar Hua plays in the background.
Upon release, Jannat 2 opened strongly at the box office and collected Rs 8.5 crore on the first day. It went on to collect Rs 6.9 crore the following day and Rs 8.7 crore on the third day. On its first weekend, it collected Rs 23.5 crore. It was declared a hit after it collected Rs 70 crore in its theatrical run.
