Tom Hardy Reacts To Wake Up Dead Man Casting Buzz: ‘Sounds Cool, But No One's Asked Me’
Very little is known about the project other than the fact that it will be available on Netflix in 2025.

Writer-director Rian Johnson teased the third Knives Out movie, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery and revealed that filming was set to commence, much to the delight of fans who had been waiting for news. The next sequel, which was initially revealed in March 2021, will come out after the release of Knives Out in 2019 and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery in 2022. Tom Hardy was said to be in consideration for the film, but he was not among the confirmed cast released by Netflix.

Hardy stated that he is not part of Wake Up Dead Man’s cast in a recent interview with ET, although he believes the idea “sounds cool.” Hardy said, “Nobody’s called me about this.”

“This came out in the Google machine this morning, even I was like ‘What’s this?’ Someone’s gotta ask me. Sounds cool, but no one’s asked me. That’s showbiz, right? Maybe I am in it!”

Very little is known about the project other than the fact that it will be available on Netflix in 2025 and that Daniel Craig will reprise his role as private investigator Benoit Blanc. Rian Johnson released the first image of Craig’s character on Monday, June 10.

“Aaaaand we’re off!” Rian Johnson wrote, tagging a black and white photo of Detective Blanc wearing a suit and putting on longer hair. “Today is day 1 of shooting on the next Benoit Blanc mystery ‘Wake Up Dead Man’ – see you on the other side.”

A number of new cast members will be joining Craig in the much-awaited third film, according to a disclosure made by Netflix last month. PEOPLE reported in March 2021 that the streaming service had paid an estimated $400 million for the rights to the two sequels.

The cast will include actors Glenn Close, Josh O’Connor, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington and Cailee Spaeny. Although the basic plot of Knives Out 3 has not yet been revealed, some fans think the second movie contains a hint regarding the setting of the third film.

“Did you solve the murder of — oh — whatshername — the ballet dancer thing, that’s you?” says Claire Debella (Kathryn Hahn) in one of the movie’s opening moments, as everyone is shocked to find Detective Blanc at the dock.

This has led some fans to speculate that the third movie would serve as a prequel concerning one of Blanc’s previous cases.

However, individuals associated with the film informed ComicBook that the next instalment in the series will be “very, very different” from the Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and Knives Out.
