Jimin’s upcoming digital single, Closer Than This is a heartfelt fan song that encapsulates Jimin’s genuine feelings for ARMY.

It has been slightly more than a week since Jimin commenced his mandatory military service, and in a thoughtful gesture for his fans during the festive season, he has prepared a special gift. As per the announcement from BigHit Music, Jimin will be dropping a new digital single titled Closer Than This under ARMY’s trees just in time for Christmas. The management company, BigHit, shared the news on Weverse, expressing their excitement about the release of Jimin’s digital single. The song, scheduled to release at 2 pm KST on Friday, is described as a “heartfelt fan song” that conveys Jimin’s sincere feelings for ARMY, the dedicated fanbase.

BigHit Music’s official statement read, “Hello. This is BigHit Music. We are excited to announce the release of BTS member Jimin’s digital single, Closer Than This. Closer Than This is a heartfelt fan song that encapsulates Jimin’s genuine feelings for ARMY.”

“As we approach the final days of 2023, we hope that ‘Closer Than This,’ with its lyrics conveying Jimin’s love and affection for his fans, will bring you hope and warmth,” concluded BigHit in its message.

This announcement follows confirmation a few weeks ago that Jimin and three other BTS members – V, Jung Kook, and RM – had initiated the enlistment process in the South Korean army. Jin, Suga, and J-Hope had already begun their service, adhering to the mandatory military service requirement for all able-bodied men in South Korea.

Earlier this year, Jimin released his EP, Face, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. One of the singles from the project, Like Crazy, achieved the milestone of topping the Billboard Hot 100 in April, marking Jimin’s first No. 1 as a solo artist.

In the recent MAMA Awards, Jimin garnered eight nominations and was honoured as the best male artist. Expressing gratitude to the ARMY on Weverse, he wrote, “Today we received so many valuable awards today. Thank you very much to all ARMYs who always support and love us. We will do our best to show you better music and performances. Thank you again and I love you.”

Apart from the announcement, the official page of BTS has also a clip featuring Jimin and another group member V. The video on Instagram starts with Jimin dancing inside a studio. After doing a few steps he was joined by V as they walked with their phone facing the studio mirror.
