Shah Rukh Khan is known as a fantastic co-actor, praised by many who have worked with him. Rajpal Yadav, who shared the screen with SRK in the 2003 film Kal Ho Naa Ho, shared a story about how dedicated and supportive he was. Even for a small scene, they rehearsed together almost 12 times. Yadav fondly recalled these moments while talking to Mashable India about his role as Guru in the film.
He recalled, “Shah Rukh Khan was a superstar and I was a beginner. It was my first introduction to him as an actor. If I did 12 rehearsals for that one scene, he responded in all 12 as if he is a beginner. It didn’t feel like he was a superstar. Our tuning was very good in that scene.”
In the film, Rajpal Yadav portrayed a Mumbai goon who, intending to go on a blind date with Sweetu (Delnaaz), mistakenly ended up at her neighbor Naina’s (Preity Zinta) house. Naina was having dinner there with her family and Aman (SRK). During his collaboration with Shah Rukh, Yadav noticed the actor’s deep passion for his craft. “He had that passion in him to do something great.” After Kal Ho Naa Ho, Rajpal Yadav worked with SRK in films like Billu, Bhoothnath and Paheli. The actor feels Shah Rukh is yet to deliver his best performance. He said, “His films are doing so well but I still feel his best performance is yet to come because he considers his profession his passion,” the actor recalled.
Rajpal Yadav has gained immense popularity with his comic roles and has delivered some memorable performances in films like Bhagam Bhag, Hungama, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, De Dana Dan and Khatta Meetha, among many others. Interestingly, his next film Apurva will see him playing a menacing character who abducts a young girl ahead of her wedding.
