'A Moral Beacon': Tributes Pour in for Legendary Spinner Bishan Singh Bedi on Social Media

One of India’s finest spinners, the legendary Bishan Singh Bedi, breathed his last on Monday as the former player passed away at the age of 77.

Tributes poured in on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, as they paid their respects to the legendary bowler and sent strength to his family during this tough time.

Former Indian pacer Irfan led the tributes with a post that read, “Bishan Singh bedi One of our best is no more. It’s a loss to our cricketing fraternity. My deep condolences to his family.”

The Board of Control for Cricket in India, BCCI, posted, “The BCCI mourns the sad demise of former India Test Captain and legendary spinner, Bishan Singh Bedi. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and fans in these tough times. May his soul rest in peace”

BCCI honorary secretary Jay Shah shared an update, “Sad to hear the demise of Shri Bishan Singh Bedi. Indian Cricket has lost an icon today. Bedi Sir defined an era of cricket and he left an indelible mark on the game with his artistry as a spin bowler and his impeccable character. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Legendary Indian leggie Anil Kumble said, “Deeply saddened to hear the loss of Bishan Paaji. He was someone who always had my back and who genuinely shared his thoughts on the game. Cricketing fraternity will miss him dearly. Heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and loved ones.”

Home Minister Amit Shah shared a post that read, “Deeply saddened by the demise of the legendary spinner and former captain of the Indian cricket team Bishan Singh Bedi Ji. Bedi Ji will live in our memories not only through his contribution to the cricketing world but also as the master of crafty bowling who could weave magic on the pitch. My heartfelt condolences to his family members and his fans in this hour of grief.”

Dr Jitendra Singh, He is the Minister of State for the Ministry of Science and Technology posted, “Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of legendary India spinner and former captain of the Indian cricket team Bishan Singh Bedi Ji. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. May his soul rest in peace.”

The spinner was a stalwart of the turners and established his name in the annals of Indian and world cricket. The slow left-arm orthodox bowler managed to pick up 266 wickets in 67 Test matches for the nation.
