ODI World Cup Trophy Arrives in New Delhi as Arun Jaitley Stadium Gets Much-needed Makeover Ahead of Mega ICC Event
The DDCA has replaced the old stadium seats with new and improved ones, a significant improvement over the previous seating arrangements.

The ODI World Cup trophy arrived at Arun Jaitley Stadium, transforming the venue into a vastly improved arena. The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) unveiled the coveted trophy. The DDCA has undertaken various upgrades within the stadium to enhance the overall fan experience, anticipating large crowds during the World Cup matches.

This cricket stadium had faced scrutiny earlier this year during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the Indian Premier League due to issues with seating facilities and amenities. However, the state board is determined to ensure that such problems do not recur, with the primary goal of allowing spectators to fully enjoy the World Cup matches in New Delhi.

The DDCA has replaced the old stadium seats with new and improved ones, a significant improvement over the previous seating arrangements. Furthermore, they have undertaken aesthetic enhancements, incorporating vibrant colors like Blue, Green, and Orange to give the stadium a refreshing and appealing appearance. These efforts are geared towards making the stadium not only functional but visually pleasing as well.

DDCA joint-secretary Rajan Manchanda shared details of the changes made in the stadium.

“You can look at the stadium, you would not have hoped to see such big changes in the stadium. We have installed 35000 new chairs for the spectators’ comfort. 58 toilets are also installed, a new AC plant, new ground cover for the ground and new paint in the stadium. We have also revamped the media box so that the media persons won’t face any issues while covering the match. We will make arrangements for water for the spectators,” Manchanda told News18 CricketNext.

The office bearers at DDCA chose the pitch curator Ankit Dutta to unveil the World Cup trophy at Kotla which was a great gesture as they also dedicated the events to the groundsmen for the work they put up for the makeover of the event.

DDCA also invited the young kids for the trophy unveiling as it was a special moment for them to pose for some photos with the coveted trophy. Some visually impaired children were also invited to the event as it surely turned out to be a memorable day for them too.

India will play only match in New Delhi against Afghanistan which is going to witness a jam-pack crowd at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. While the fans will get to witness the makeover of the stadium on October 7 first when South Africa take on Sri Lanka.
